Let's Get Together

Brandy had been offering to let Caleb swim in their pool for weeks, but we just never came over at a  good time for it. In September we finally had a weekend where we weren't busy and went over to hang out for a little bit. The kids were running around outside playing while the guys were trying to decide whether or not they should bring over the projector and play Xbox 360 on it in the back yard.

Eventually the kids ended up in the pool. This was Caleb's first time in a backyard pool. The only pools he has ever been in were the ones in Germany and those had never been so deep when he was on his own. It was funny to watch him get in ... he stood on the ladder for a bit watching Gavin and Ally play in the water before submerging himself.

I'm guessing the water was pretty chilly since he shivered the whole time, but we couldn't convince him to get out.

He had such a good time playing. After the pool they all got into some dry clothes and played with trains until the projector was set up.

By the time everything was together Caleb and Ally had passed out in the bedroom so Gavin was the only kid awake to play (Caleb eventually woke up and came out, but fell asleep in one of the chairs).

Fire Sky

I'm not exactly sure what caused the colour change in the sky that night, but it looked amazing. It could have been one of the many fires in the area since it's been so dry lately. Whatever it was it was beautiful. It didn't last too long so I'm glad I got some pictures before the sun went down completely.

Meeting Rocky

After the tanks and copters we drove over to another part of post where they have a statue of Rocky the bulldog. He's the mascot for the 3rd Infantry Division here at Fort Stewart and stands near the front of post in an area used for ceremonies.

Caleb really enjoyed getting to see him up close and talked about the "doggy" the whole way back to the car.

Toddlers and Tanks

SEPTEMBER

Fort Stewart has old retired tanks and helicopters set up around post. Some as decoration and some are memorials for certain events dealing with a war or a battle fought by 3rd ID. Before going to the Warnock's the day of Gary's birthday we stopped at the little museum they have so that Caleb could finally get a close up look at some of the machines. He absolutely loved getting to be there.

Fascinating Fish

Jensen loves sitting in front of the fish tank in the mornings. He'll watch the fish go back and forth for an hour before getting bored and he jumps around whenever the fish swims by.

Playing with Play Doh

AUGUST

When my sister came up to visit she brought a bunch of boxes that had been kept in my storage unit and, later on, my mom's house while we were in Germany. Along with the boxes of my things, my mom thought it would be fun to toss in a box full of play doh and some other play doh related toys. Thanks mom ....

Caleb wanted to play with it right away. He had fun for about 10 minutes and then ran off to play with some other toy. It was only when I decided to put it all away that he wanted to play with it again.

A few days after my sister left I pulled some out so my mom can't say I never let him play with her gift ;) We started out making a cow ...

Which turned into something that looked very much like Play Doh Henge.

Jensen got to play with it for a few seconds before he tried eating it, so no more play doh for him.

The boys haven't really taken bathes together mostly because Caleb loves acting like a crazy in the tub, but Jensen wasn't quite steady enough for the slick surface. They got to play together just recently for the first time and they both loved it.
